Marie Cooney

Marie Cooney
Marie is the Families Coordinator with CEOP, the National Crime Agency's child protection command, which works to prevent children’s exposure and vulnerability to online harm. Fundamental to achieving this is CEOP’s Thinkuknow programme, which aims to provide children with the knowledge to stay safe. CEOP also works to provide parents, carers and practitioners working with children with the understanding and confidence to safeguard children online. Marie has been developing and delivering CEOP’s Thinkuknow programme over the past six years as a member of the Education Team and has project managed the production of a number of educational film resources and coordinated educational campaigns, including the award winning ‘Lee and Kim’, ‘Exposed’ and, most recently ‘The Parents’ and Carers’ Guide to the Internet’. Marie regularly delivers CEOP’s Ambassador Courses to audiences of professionals working with children throughout the UK, and she has also created and delivered Safeguarding Training in Romania, Poland, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia through CEOP’s International Child Protection Network (ICPN).
