Digiworld SEND resources

What are these resources?

Digiworld is a curriculum designed to help children, aged 5-16, to develop the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the online world in a safer and more enjoyable way.

These resources were developed by the PZ SEND project, funded by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). They are dedicated to providing teachers with quality-assured media literacy resources that are accessible for children and adaptable for those that teach them.

What SEND professionals say

"The Digiworld resource is an easy one to adapt for different year groups to make sure you are giving children a decent education about the issues facing them"

"These resources enable you to talk to childrne about the dangers of being online. They are very factual which is great for high-functioning autistic students.'

What works well

  • The visual design of the resource and characters are engaging
  • The level of questioning is suitable... simple without too much language
  • I love the certificate at the end!

Things to consider

  • Support staff may need to model scenarios and different expressions
  • Pre teaching with visual aids and visual scaffolding templates would generally be very beneficial
  • There is no audio playback function for the text
