Ready to host a Your Digital Family quiz? Let's get started...

The quiz can be hosted by a family professional, teacher or community worker, with one or more families as participants.

It has three rounds of questions, like a pub quiz. It could be delivered face-to-face or virtually. Whatever works best for you.

How to host: FAQs

Where and when should I host a quiz?

Plan an appropriate place and time that's best suited for the families who’ll be joining.

Can they get to a venue, or would it be easier to host it online, like a video conference platform?

Allow about 45 minutes for three rounds and the answers.

What set-up do I need?

You'll need a device to read through the questions – or present them on screen.

If delivering face-to-face, you may want a screen for presentation, with space for everyone joining.

If delivering online, you might also want to present the screen – but make sure you can see the scripting notes needed. Check the online platform and practice using it first. You may also need to check the chat settings too, so you can control who uses them and how.

In both cases, you may need to check your WiFi is strong and secure.

Do I need any help with hosting?

You can deliver this quiz by yourself. However, it might help to have someone to assist, especially if hosting larger groups.

For example, a co-host could answer any individual questions, while you’re managing the delivery.

Should I set any ground rules for the quiz?

It's  a good idea to plan and explain what rules you want.

The presentation includes a couple of rules already. Feel free to change these or add more.

How do I get ready to host a quiz?

It's good to find time to practise and rehearse.

It helps to know the quiz questions and answers yourself before you host an event.

Is there anything else I should know?

Have fun! The quiz is a great way to kickstart family conversations around tech.
